Port "Thing One", The Maiden Collection, Colorado Yule Marble Sculpture by Martin Coooney

The three members of  Wave Power, a collective group of carvings that I named Thing One, The Demure One, and Thing Two, were carved in swift succession after the other.   The Demure One came along first (pictured center below),  and as his name would suggest, Thing One followed right on her heels.

The three waves of Wave Power came along very early during the creation of The Maiden Collection, as I came to grips with the incredible liquid energy, or “Wave Power” that I discovered deep within the slab.

Only Genesis,  Adam and  Eve arrived prior these geological twins.   The lessons they brought me allowed me to build upon this vital knowledge and fully get to grips with the task of direct carving such a huge (ten ton) slab of Colorado Yule Marble.

But if ever there were a couple of sculptures that love to roam it has to be these two Things.   So easy they are to pick up and move around that they are apt to pop up in the strangest of places.  Then there’s the fun they have with snow – or should I say, the fun snow has with them.  If you’re lucky enough to live in a place where snow falls, particularly wind driven drifting snow, then you are going to love the way Mother Nature interprets and extends the form of the carving: to the point whereby it is soon becomes quite unclear clear which is marble, and which is pure white snow.
