The story of how Cat Walk came to be carved is sufficiently convoluted that I find it difficult to explain, suffice to say that the process was physically punishing and emotionally taxing; resulting in much hard work and enormous effort.

Originally it had been my intention to carve a piece similar in shape to Cat Walk, but more along the lines of a waterfall.  Fate however was to intervene in the form of some suspect marble that had to be immediately removed.  Soon a pattern was to emerge that immediately had me intrigued.  The core not only appeared to be strong and resilient, but seemed to suggest a human figure.

Before too long I had completely forgotten all thoughts of waterfalls or whatever and my task became one of capturing the confident stance of fashion models across the globe, viewed as we are accustomed to staring at them, under the spotlight, as they glide their way along the glitzy elevated runways of the world’s premier catwalks.
