Tripledrops / Web Page / COLLECTION SERIES MARBLE SCULPTURE by Martin Cooney / For Sale

A sleek, teardrop-shaped sculpture made from marble, positioned on a dark surface with soft natural lighting in the background.

‘Tripledrops’ first peered out of a perfectly pointed pyramid-shaped rough block that I purposefully split in order to carve her. For, not only did she bring a new sense of vibrancy and strikingly petite proportion, but as The Liberty Collection’s 28th sculpture, she also opened the door to some profound possibilities going forward.

~ The new process utilized to split the ‘Tripledrops’ rough block proved a tremendous success ~

This new method of splitting is somewhat difficult to describe, and a little beside the point at hand, but it basically allowed me to deliberately create the sculpture’s very sharp point. And in discovering the benefits provided by its addition to my arsenal of existing options, I can now look forward to bringing evermore dainty, wafer-thin walls, evocatively translucent hues and light-saturated marble curves to future Curvilinear Marble Sculptures.

~ ‘Tripledrops’ reacts to any and all direct light ~ the stronger and more direct the light, the better ~

I am as curious and interested as anyone to see just how exactly this newly acquired splitting technique will adapt itself to the Curvilinear concept at the core of my signature COLLECTION SERIES body of work – now standing at 95 sculptures in total. But if those wafer-thin walls, the tall slender form and curvaceous outlines are anything to go by, it should be an interesting development here-on-in.

As with all of my COLLECTION SERIES Marble Sculpture, ‘Tripledrops’ bears my name, her name and Serial Number (SN), engraved upon the underside of her base, along with my Mark – a simple insignia that dates back to my origins in stone carving, as a jobbing banker mason, all those many years ago.

Pick her up, hold her firmly against you, clear your path, embrace her as you walk, and take her anywhere you wish. She will appreciate a bit of direct light in the form of sunlight, spotlight, even candlelight. In fact, she will absorb any light you throw her way and reward you with the warmest, moodiest and most romantic marble lightshow. With her three faces – or ‘drops’, facing outwards, divided by slender walls, she was carved with the specific purpose of catching any-and-all light from every angle. She is basically three marble bowls seated back-to-back and inverted in the vertical plane. She’s ‘light, portable and carved for full immersion in the real world’, as my Curvilinear tagline goes. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show. She’s yours – all yours, to share your world and adorn all your favorite personal spaces.
