Unfortunately, a phone doesn’t work too well for me as, for one thing, I can’t hear it, let alone answer it while I carve. And for another, it tends to fill with spam, so even if you leave a message, there is a good chance I won’t hear it. Hello, my name is Martin Cooney. I carve and sculpt Colorado Yule marble, Kansas Crème limestone and Oklahoma Winterset limestone to the highest standard.

Born in Preston, England, Kris, who was born in San Bernadino, California, and I have spent many years living in Portland, Oregon, London and Bath, England, Woody Creek and Aspen, Colorado; we now call Alta Vista, Kansas, home.

Since January 2025, I have carved in the Martin Cooney Stoneworks at 121 Liberty Street, Council Grove, Kansas, where I am currently creating The Liberty Collection – the 4th in my COLLECTION SERIES of Colorado Yule Marble Sculpture, split and carved from a 3-ton quarry block.

And as a professionally-trained Banker Mason with 25 years of experience, I also carve commissioned limestone projects such as fireplace surrounds, window and door frames, and bespoke ornate architectual details, including fountains, plaques and traditional V-cut lettering.
