Limestone Sculpture
Limestone is God’s gift to professional stone carvers, and Kansas limestone is the best of the lot. A close second is Oklahoma Winterset – a very close second indeed, with its vibrant colors and statification, so much so I am sure it thinks it’s a sandstone. But Kansas limestone is beautifully opaque, soft enough to carve swiftly, but solidly predictable so as to keep a crisp, clean edge: perfect for so many aplications, from fountains to fireplaces, entrance sign to unique and vibrant sculpture. Plus it ages well and produces a deep yellowish patina that just adds an abundant charm to its quiet demeanor.
