Hello, my name is Martin Cooney and I am a banker mason (architectural stone carver) and sculptor with 23 years of experience and an NVQ Level Two qualification from The City of Bath College (now Bath College) in my native England. Welcome to The New Stone Age

The Summer of 23 KMJ Bus Tour is headed for Kansas ~ Oklahoma ~ Western Missouri ~ Western Arkansas

If you live in the area outlined above, I will soon be in your area and would like to show you samples of my work, and explain the many options that my wife, Kris, and I bring with our KMJ Stoneworks Travelling Gallery, in the form of our KMJ Bus Tour.

➢ Welcome to The New Stone Age: a two-hour informed and entertaining audience-led conversation regarding the untapped potential of Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma’s remarkable building and carving stones.

Here's the menu of services and events that we offer.

➢ Commercial Commissions: fireplace surrounds, doorways and windows, plaques, letter cutting, and artistic carvings in deep bas relief or in the round.

➢ The Real Stone Cottage: the forever home that will last forever. A masonry home – cool in the summer and warm through the winter - that will not blow down, burn down, be devoured by insects, or rot away.

➢ Carving Demonstrations: safe and close access for the public to view commissioned stonework being carved.

➢ Carving Classes: instructive and goal focused, one-week courses where beginners, intermediate and advanced alike, will leave with a stone carving that they will be proud to display when they get back home.

➢ THE KMJ Stoneworks Pop-Up Show: marble bowls, limestone sculpture, copper candlesticks, candle holders, candles, gift shop figurines, culinary stone goods, latest carvings, water fountains & more.

➢ Candle Lumination: the fine art of filling the room with candlelight, safely, effectively and coolly.

Call me, Martin Cooney at 970 319 1070. Email me at martincooneysculptor@gmail.com. But please, no texts.

I would like to explain the process that I use to create my stonework and sculpture.
Through a combination of tools, training and technique, I have mastered the art of
producing fireplaces, doorways and windows, artistic bas relief panels, v-cut lettering, plus complex modern and traditional architectural features, sculptures, fountains, entrance signs and much more.

All of which are produced swiftly and accurately, with no computer programming required whatsoever. In fact, by the time the designs come back from my automated competition, I will most likely have the piece finished

In short, I can carve anything – if, that is, it retains structural integrity and is sourced from one of the three amazing stones from three great American states: Colorado Yule marble, Kansas Crème and Oklahoma limestone, which together provide the three finest carving and building stones that I have ever encountered, here or in my homeland back in England. All three of these delightful and durable stones would settle right in amongst the prettiest towns and villages of the quaint Cotswold hills, or The City of London’s commerce.

And I should know.
