I had been tentatively mulling over the possibility that I had some sort of creature on my hands from almost the moment I began carving Jonah, and I could see from the markings that this distinctly whale-shaped bowl was indeed beginning to emerge a tail.  Immediately as it was sketched upon the stone  I set about carving it into shape.  Truth be told, I simply couldn’t resist the urge to add the fishy tail given the odd-shape the rough block from which Jonah was carved.  It really was a most unlikely split, but one just waiting to be carved into this whale of a bowl, apparently.
