As quickly as the snow clears here in Woody Creek the irrepressible American Robin – not actually a Robin at all, but a member of the thrush family – is plucking juicy looking worms from the ground with astonishing ease.   Robin or Thrush,   he would invariably reward a hard day in the studio with a virtuoso evening recital from his wide-ranging repertoire atop the highest tree.

Perhaps not surprisingly Robin came along in the merry month of July, right at the very height of his imperious presence, here in the Colorado Rocky Mountain Sculpture Garden.  It must be noted however that this most plucky garden volunteer: i.e. turning plump, juicy worms into fertilizer: the humble robin, was to prove a constant companion throughout the calendar year.
