How Timely!
For my 300th martincooney.com post; a first glimpse of the new studio gallery,
the construction of which, for the past two months, has utterly taken over my life.
So, sit back and enjoy the vid, I’ll catch up with you as you scroll your way down through the photo gallery.
FIRST GLIMPSE
Watch the video, walk through the doors, stroll around, and preview the KMJ for yourself.
I suppose that, if I had have allowed myself to realistically visualize the sheer amount of hard, physical labor to which Kris and I had just committed ourselves upon signing the lease to this place, I may – just might – have had cause to reconsider the nature of our ambitious plans.
I initially planned to include a few photos of the before-and-after, just to give this historic 300th martincooney.com post some perspective, but on consideration I think we’ll save those images for another time, and simply savor the fact that by-and-large the ordeal has passed.
And so come with me as we head indoors to take a swift first look around.
Strange to think that Mabel, above left, has spent her entire six years outdoors, at 7,300 feet in the Rocky Mountains, spring, summer, autumn and winter, watching and governing over ‘Birdhaven’ The Colorado Rocky Mountain Sculpture Garden in Woody Creek. And now, here she is, radiant as ever, dominating her minions below, splendidly perched at the center of her very own creations. For nothing in the room would even exist if it were not for her. Not even stout and curvy ‘Chicane’ standing alongside her.
With Mabel setting the backdrop I have been able to arrange my signature Hand Carved Marble Bowls in a massed public display for the very first time.
Following the bowls will come the turn of the creatures, the maidens, the ships and the standing stones.
And so, depending on when it is that you are reading this, I am not really sure just what will meet your eyes once you make your way to 111 Suite D, AABC, Aspen, Colorado. I do know that, whatever we are showing at the KMJ, it will be accompanied by oodles of information, and lots of fun.
Our hours are to run 10:30 to 1:00, 2:30 to 6:00, Tuesday – Saturday.
Private viewings are welcome, and may be arrange with advanced notice.
And now for the slideshow
As you will see, I’ve thrown in one or two before-and-afters for a bit of hard earned perspective.
Stay tuned for a closer look at the a former plumbing shop’s renovation in my next post.
Thanks for visiting martincooney.com
Hope to see you at The KMJ,
One Fine Day
